On August 31 st , four capsule-documentaries 50 best documentaries titled Invisible Slaves will debut on MTV Latin America s channel showing the stories of victims. The documentary will be presented by Calle 13 and narrated by Rene Joglar, as part of the campaign against human trafficking and exploitation in Mexico
Mexico, DF / Washington, D.C. July 31 st , 2012. Calle 13, MTV Latin America , and the Panamerican Foundation for Development ( PADF ), unite to launch the MTV EXIT campaign in Mexico by releasing four animated capsules that come together to form the documentary Invisible Slaves about human trafficking and exploitation. The Mexican government, the private sector 50 best documentaries and groups in the civil society join together in the effort to raise awareness and fight against the problem within 50 best documentaries the young population.
Mexico has become a country prevalent in human trafficking, prompting the creation of the Alliance Against Human Trafficking 50 best documentaries in Mexico by PADF , who have worked alongside MTV Latin America to fight the issues that affects thousands of women, young people, children, and immigrants from Central America who have been deceived by false promises of better salaries and opportunities.
In Mexico, we face not only the problem of human trafficking, but the growing epidemic that is destroying the lives of thousands of young people. Through the alliance between PADF and MTV Latin America, this documentary offers an effective way to communicate the preventative message that can reach vulnerable groups, especially children and young people to alert them of the dangers, said Louis Alexander, the General Director of Programs 50 best documentaries for PADF. In addition, 50 best documentaries it supports the efforts of the Mexican government to work closer with the civil society and the private 50 best documentaries sector to fight against new forms of modern slaver.
PADF is proud to help in the creation of this synergy with MTV Latin America, as well as the Alliance Against Human Trafficking in Mexico. MTV Latin America taped the documentary-capsules featuring four testimonials of young victims 50 best documentaries in Mexico and Guatemala. The goal of the capsules is to bring a higher awareness of this serious problem, which is difficult 50 best documentaries to detect. By educating young audiences, they will be able to stay alert and not fall prey to traffickers.
The first capsule features the story of Jose, a Salvadoran immigrant in Guatemala, who was abandoned by his family and exploited by a gang into selling drugs. The second capsule tells the story of Laura, a young Mexican girl who was deceived by a pimp when she was 17 years old, forced into prostitution, and was fortunately able to escape. The third capsule describes the story of Marcela; a Mexican girl who was tricked into prostitution when she was 13 after living trapped for2 years. The last capsule portrays Maria s story; a girl from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico who became an orphan and went to live with a family who exploited her for labor and beat her.

Miami Beach, FL Chilean-born Nicolás López s first English language film entitled Aftershock , which recently screened at Hispanicize 2013, opens in theaters across the nation on May 10 th . Lopez s whose work has made him a favorite at prestigious film festivals across the U.S., Europe and Latin American over the past decade, was also honored with the Latinovator Award at Hispanicize 2013. López s second feature, the sci-fi romantic comedy Santos (2008) was co-produced oscar restaurant by Troublemaker Studios ( Sin City ) and Telecinco Cinema ( Pan’s oscar restaurant Labyrinth ) with a $6 million budget. Santos won the Special Jury Prize at Fantastic Fest.

Miami, FL Miami Dade College’s Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), in partnership with MTV Latin America and Tr3s, opened submissions today to contemporary music videos of unique vision and superlative artistry from around the globe for its REEL Music Video Art Competition, to be held during MIFF’s 31st edition from March 7-16, 2014.
MIFF S REEL Music Video Art Competition, presented by MTV Latin America and Tr3s is open to all musical acts and video artists with a special emphasis placed on Latin American work (including videos for U.S. Hispanic musical acts and/or videos created by U.S. Hispanic latin music awards video artists). Approximately 10 contemporary music videos will be chosen for the finalists, to be judged by MTV Latin America staff members and MIFF programmers.

MEXICO CITY -- MTV Latin America has begun development on the Spanish-language telenovela Popland, its first fully produced scripted series.   The network announced out of the Miami NATPE conference on Wednesday that it has greenlit 75 one-hour emmy awards live episodes of Popland, which focuses on a small town girl who lands a job as a paparazzi in the big city.   MTV Networks International's sales arm will handle worldwide distribution for the new series and the network says it has slated a Latin America pan-regional premiere for later this year.   Popland is MTV Latin America's second emmy awards live telenovela production. Its first original novela, dubbed Ninas Mal, was co-produced with Sony Pictures Television. 
Ninas Mal was shot on location in Colombia. Locations, cast and crew for Popland will be announced at a later date. El Capo scribe Marcelo Camano is co-writing Popland with Ninas Mal screenwriter Claudia Bono .

U.S. Filmmakers Lend Support To Iceland’s Film Industry In early November, Iceland s government announced plans to cut funding to the Icelandic Film Centre by about 40%. The news was met with upset within the industry, especially given that film production turnover has grown 248% since 2010, according to industry reports. That was driven by a number of Hollywood pics that shot locally including Oblivion , Prometheus and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty and HBO’s Games Of Thrones . Film trade orgs have said the effect of the cuts would hurt the local economy and result in 200 job losses. The country s film bodies have now received a statement of support video music award signed by filmmakers including Clint Eastwood , Darren Aronofsky video music award and Terrence Malick. We, the undersigned, have had the great pleasure of working on one or more film projects in Iceland,” the statement reads. “In our view, the Icelandic film professionals we’ve worked with are of the highest standard. The expertise that they bring to the table not only as filmmakers but as invaluable advisors on Icelandic practices, customs and locations has brought immeasurable benefits to the work that we do.
