He came into the world as the only child of Italian-born Frenchman Scott Metcalfe and Portuguese women of Italian descent Nancy DeMaio. He grew up in Waterford, able Connectitut. His passion has become the game of basketball. He graduated from The Williams School in New London and Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where he performed in a student film etudes Jesus and Tequila (Jesus and Tequila) and Fasmogoria (Phasmogoria). In 1999, he interrupted his studies at the University of New York and moved to Los Angeles.
